Temperaments:

The Boerboel was developed in South Africa as a farm dog.

The dogs were called upon to defend the farm and family from what ever predator strayed upon the farm. We have been told first hand of tales of the Boerboel showing great feats of power, strength and often putting its life on the line.

The Boerboel of today still shows strong characteristics of protection, this still makes it guard dog of choice.

The Boerboel is intelligent, manageable and trainable with a strong instinct to guard its family. This results in a loyal, calm confident nature. The Boerboel requires a firm hand from day one.

The origin and purpose of the Boerboel should be respected and understood to fully preserve the temperament of the modern day Boerboel.
